Where you stand

A strong business that Google isn't helping yet

34Google reviews at 5.0 stars. Better than most of the businesses beating you.
$0on ads. Your site says work comes from Ace Hardware and referrals.
4 monthsbooked out, by your own site. So more leads isn't the point.

The question: if Ace slowed down, where does the next job come from? And are you getting the jobs you'd pick?

What Google shows today

Not in the top 20 at any of 49 spots

People searching "general contractor" around Mequon, October 28. A smaller "handyman" search, run earlier, also found you at none of its 25 spots.

JK Contractors (148 reviews)15 of 49
HoneyDew Improvements (83 reviews)14 of 49
Angel's Dream Renovations (9 reviews)14 of 49

Spots in Google's top 3, from 49 points about 1.7 miles apart. Angel's Dream has 9 reviews to your 34, so reviews aren't what's holding you back.

Your Google listing, checked

What's working, and what we'd fix first

From our report of October 28, 2026.

One decision for you

Should Google show your address?

18.4%how often a listing with an address makes the top 3
6.3%how often a hidden-address listing does

Both for businesses with 20 to 99 reviews, like you. At every review count it's 2 to 3 times as often, and hidden-address listings are only 3.5% of top 3 spots.

From 1,669 of our reports: 1.6 million listings seen in Google Maps searches. This shows a pattern, not a guarantee: other things can differ between these businesses.

Google's rule

You can show an address only if it's a real place you work from, and customers can come there during your hours. No PO boxes or virtual offices.

  • A shop or office you have: show it. We'd recommend this.
  • Only your home: it would be public, and customers must be able to visit. Your call.
  • Neither: stay hidden, and we work the rest of the listing harder.

Where do you work from, Mark? Do customers ever come by, say for mechanic work?

Changing it can make Google ask you to verify again.

The Root package

What we do on your listing, every month

Set up right

  • Categories, services and description written around the jobs you want
  • Your name, address and phone on 40+ directories, wrong ones fixed first

Kept active

  • Weekly Google posts, photos and short videos
  • Every review answered, usually within a day
  • Review requests after a job

Proof every month

  • This same map, run again from the same spots
  • Calls, website clicks and direction requests from Google

What it helps with

  • A source of work that isn't Ace or word of mouth
  • More of the work you'd choose
  • A listing that runs without your time

Google usually takes 60 to 90 days to respond. Nobody can promise a ranking, and we won't.

The estimate tool, live

Try it. This is the real tool.

  1. The customer describes the job and can add photos, right on your website.
  2. They see a number right away, marked "Preliminary estimate, subject to review by Mark."
  3. You get an email with their name, phone, the job and how it was priced. You take it from there.

Try one of these:

Tile my 60 square foot bathroom floorReplace 3 interior doorsFix a drywall hole and repaint

Demo with sample prices until you put in your own. See it on a sample version of your site.

You stay in control

Your own back end. It prices the way you do.

  • Rates and rules: hourly rates, markup, trip charges. Customers never see them.
  • What you do and don't do: it turns down work you don't want.
  • Your limits: a smallest job, and a size above which you price it yourself.
  • Train it: if an estimate is off, type what it should have been and why. It uses that on similar jobs.
  • Try it first: test any job before a customer ever sees it.
